What is career coaching, and how can it help me?

Career coaching is not just a “resume consultation” or a set of ready-made tips. It’s a process where you and your potential are the main focus. It’s about answering the question: “Where do I want to go, and how can I get there in a way that actually works?”

A career coach is not someone who will tell you what to do. They help you discover and articulate your true goals, strengths, and possible steps, and then build a plan that works specifically for you.

Why Coaching Works

Many people think: “I just want a new job” or “I need a better CV”. But the problem is usually bigger. We all sometimes lack clarity, confidence, and strategy, especially during career changes, moving to another country, stepping up to a new level, or returning after a break.

A career coach helps you:

🎯 Identify your strengths and values – you’ll understand what truly motivates you and what really matters.

🧭 Find clear direction and build a plan – instead of chaotic options, you get a clear roadmap.

📈 Develop skills and confidence – communication, self-presentation, job search strategy, salary negotiation – everything becomes manageable, not intimidating.

💬 Receive an objective perspective and feedback you can’t always see yourself.

A coach doesn’t do the work for you, but helps you see what exactly you need to do and supports you every step of the way.

Who Can Benefit from Career Coaching

Career coaching isn’t just for those switching jobs. It’s for you if you:

• feel uncertain about your next steps;

• want to change professions or industries;

• are preparing for interviews but lack confidence;

• aspire to a leadership role but don’t know how to get there;

• recently moved to another country and aren’t familiar with local job market rules;

• are tired of uncertainty and want a clear strategy, not trial and error.

How a Career Coach Differs from an HR Specialist or Consultant

It’s important to know that a career coach is not just someone who helps update your resume or prepare for interviews (though they can do that too). The main difference is that a coach helps you find the solution yourself.

A coach asks the right questions, helps you explore different options, identifies patterns in your thinking and behavior, and works with you to create an action plan that reflects your goals, values, and potential growth strategy.

What You Gain from Coaching

Here’s what clients typically achieve:

Clarity in career direction – finally understanding where to go next.

A concrete action plan – not just ideas in your head, but steps you can implement.

Confidence in yourself and your skills.

A job search or career development strategy tailored to you.

Support and motivation so you don’t give up at the first obstacle.

This is not just talk – it’s what clients experience as we work together on their careers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your situation and goals. Some clients gain clarity in 3–4 sessions; others prefer longer support through a bigger transition. We’ll figure out the right pace together during your first call.

Is coaching the same as therapy?

No. Coaching is future-focused and action-oriented – we work on goals, strategy, and next steps, not on processing the past.

Can sessions be done online?

Yes, all sessions are available via Zoom. This makes coaching accessible no matter where you are in Germany.

Can my coaching be funded through the Jobcenter or Employment Agency?

In many cases – yes. If you’re registered with the Agentur für Arbeit or Jobcenter, coaching may be covered through a Bildungsgutschein or AVGS. I can help you find out if this applies to you.

I already have a job – is coaching still relevant for me?

Absolutely. Many clients come not because they’re unemployed, but because they feel stuck or ready for a change they’re not sure how to make.

I’m not a native German speaker – can you still help me?

Yes. Sessions are available in German, English, and Ukrainian.
